BGYSO refers to the sense of urgency for Brian to pass on his skills before he finally decides to retire.

It also refers back to the first time I met Ken Hawley, whilst I was researching the history of ice skates for an artwork I was creating with Yinka Shonibare entitled Reverend Walker. Shortly afterwards, Ken introduced me to Brian.

The Swarfhorse 'journey' lies inbetwixt.

Sheffield has made blades for ice skates for hundreds of years, which have been exported world wide. Such a precarious activity, ice skating. These vintage skates were made by John Wilson 'The Worlds Best Blades' in Sheffield. The skates were simply hung in the grinding trow, and left for the swarf to deposit on the skates. As the swarf built up, it started to resemble a wild beehive. Coincidentally brians workshop is at Beehive Works on Myrtle Road. The current predicament of bees is such an apt analogy with the loss of skills...
